The Toronto Blue Jays missed the postseason for the first time in the past three seasons in 2024 after finishing with a record of 74-88 and coming in last in the American League East.
Although the Blue Jays made the postseason the previous two years, they were swept in the wild-card series in both appearances.
This offseason, the Blue Jays pursued multiple big-name players, including Juan Soto, Corbin Burnes and Roki Sasaki, but they were unable to acquire any of them.
Although they missed out on those big names, the Blue Jays did acquire outfielder Anthony Santander from the Baltimore Orioles.
Santander will join a Blue Jays offense that is led by Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who is projected by Fangraphs to have another big season in 2025.
According to MLB on X, Fangraphs projects Guerrero to have 32 home runs, 100 RBIs, 97 runs scored, a .373 OBP and an .890 OPS.

Guerrero debuted in 2019 and has played all six seasons of his MLB career for the Blue Jays.
In 2024, he played in 159 games and batted .323 with 30 home runs, 103 RBIs and a .940 OPS.
Guerrero is projected for a similar season in 2025, and the Blue Jays will look to him to lead their offense and get them back into the postseason.
Although the Blue Jays missed out on bringing in some big names, the next task will likely be to extend Guerrero, who is set to become a free agent at the end of the season.
