The Philadelphia Phillies were eliminated from the 2024 postseason on Wednesday after a 4-1 loss to the New York Mets.
After holding a 1-0 lead at one point in the game, everything changed as Most Valuable Player candidate Francisco Lindor blasted a grand slam in the 6th inning for the Mets to take a 4-1 lead.
The Phillies were unable to get much going offensively once again in game 4, which was a trend in the entire series for them.
According to NBC Sports Philadelphia on ‘X,’ Phillies shortstop Trea Turner reveals that he believes their hitters were getting themselves out.
"I personally think we get ourselves out."

Turner did not give the credit to the Mets pitchers, but he believed that the Phillies hitters were just in a rut at the wrong time and getting themselves out at the plate.
It appeared that the Phillies hitters were possibly attempting to make something happen in every at-bat instead of trusting the guy behind them.
This means that each batter was trying to leave the ballpark and hit a home run rather than just getting on base and passing the baton to the next hitter.
A possible reason for this could be that the Phillies were on the brink of elimination and felt the pressure that something needed to be done every at-bat.
The Phillies lost in the World Series in 2022, lost in the National League Championship Series in 2023, and now lost in the National League Division Series in 2024.
Many believed this could be the year the Phillies broke through to win their first World Series title since 2008, but that dream will have to wait until next year for another shot.
