The Philadelphia Phillies began their 2024 postseason with a heartbreaking loss to the New York Mets in game 1 of the National League Division Series.
After leading for most of the game, the Mets exploded for 5 runs in the 8th inning to eventually take the game by a score of 6-2.
The Phillies will look to regroup for game 2 which will be played on Sunday in Philadelphia.
A notable player was left off of the starting roster for the Phillies before the start of the game.
According to FOX Sports: MLB on ‘X,’ Tom Verducci reports that Phillies all-star Alec Bohm will not be in the starting lineup for game 2.

Bohm made the all-star team in 2024 and batted .280 with 15 home runs, 97 runs batted in, and a .779 on-base plus slugging percentage in the regular season.
Although he was an all-star, Bohm has been slumping lately as he only has 2 hits in his last 31 at-bats.
Phillies manager Rob Thompson explains the move by saying that Bohm has grown frustrated with his poor performance and his replacement Edmundo Sosa plays with high energy that the team can feed off of.
Sosa has played in 90 games this season and has a .253 batting average with 7 home runs, 31 runs batted in, and a .734 on-base plus slugging percentage.
Although Bohm is not in the starting lineup, there is a good chance he will be used off the bench in a high-leverage spot later on in the game.
The Phillies will look to get back to their third straight National League Championship Series in hopes of winning their 3rd World Series in franchise history.
