The Colorado Rockies finished another subpar season in 2024 where they finished with a record of 61 wins and 101 losses.
This record was good enough for a last-place finish in the National League West division, and it was their 3rd straight season in which they finished in last place.
It doesn’t help that the Rockies are in the same division as the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres, Arizona Diamondbacks, and San Francisco Giants.
The Rockies will need to make some changes in order to get their organization competitive again within the division, but that change will not be a new manager.
According to FOX Sports: MLB, the Rockies have signed manager Bud Black to a 1-year extension with the team.

Black has managed this Rockies club since 2017, but he only holds 2 winning seasons over that stretch.
Before managing the Rockies, Black managed the Padres from 2007 until 2015, where he also only had 2 winning seasons.
Between the 2 teams that he has managed, his overall record includes 1186 wins and 1370 losses which is good for a .477-win percentage.
This Rockies club hasn’t made the postseason since 2018, and they have only made the playoffs 2 times in the last 15 seasons.
With 0 World Series titles and 0 division titles in franchise history, Black has his work cut out for him if he wants to turn this team around.
The team appears to have faith in him as they signed him to a 1-year contract for 2025, but it will be difficult to overcome the powerhouse that the Dodgers have become.
