The Boston Red Sox are one of the most well-known teams in Major League Baseball.
They have been a part of the MLB since 1901, and their home field is the oldest in all of baseball.
When fans think of the Red Sox, they probably think of the iconic green monster that resides in their home field of Fenway Park.
Before television, baseball games were often broadcast over the radio.
Because of this, the person broadcasting the games was often known as the voice of the team.
According to the Red Sox on ‘X,’ Hall of Fame broadcaster Joe Castiglione will retire after the completion of the 2024 season.

Castiglione has been the voice of the Red Sox for over 4 decades with 2024 being his 42nd season broadcasting the team.
The Hall of Fame broadcaster had the honor of calling 4 World Series championships for the Red Sox including the year they snapped an 86-year title drought in 2004.
They were able to sweep the St. Louis Cardinals in 2004, and also won World Series championships in 2007, 2013, and 2018.
Because of his honorary career, the radio booth at Fenway Park was named the “Joe Castiglione Booth” in 2022.
The Red Sox will honor Castiglione before they play their last regular season game at home on September 29th against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Red Sox fans had the pleasure of listening to Castiglione for the past 42 seasons and will be sad to see him go.
All of baseball is wishing Castiglione the best and thank him for his time with the Red Sox.
