As the 2024 Major League Baseball regular season concludes on Monday, the playoff field will be set heading into October.
The American League playoff teams are set, while the National League wild card comes down to the last game between the New York Mets and Atlanta Braves.
Before the postseason begins, the best teams in the MLB are ranked one last time for the year.
According to FOX Sports: MLB on ‘X,’ the final MLB power rankings have been released by MLB analyst Ben Verlander.

The top 3 teams on the list all come from the National League as the New York Yankees fell from number 3 to number 4.
Remaining at number 1 is the Los Angeles Dodgers on the back of Major League Baseball superstar Shohei Ohtani who has been red hot as of late.
The Dodgers had the best record in baseball in 2024 with 98 wins and 64 losses, while the Yankees had the best record in the American League with 94 wins and 68 losses.
In the number 2 spot remains the Philadelphia Phillies with a final record of 95 wins and 67 losses.
One thing is for certain, and that is there will be a new World Series Champion as the reigning champion Texas Rangers will miss the playoffs in 2024.
The star power in the postseason this year is off the charts with the likes of Ohtani, Bryce Harper, Aaron Judge, and Juan Soto.
Oddsmakers appear to lean slightly towards the Dodgers as the favorite to win the World Series, but any MLB fan knows that it is anybody’s game come October.
