The New York Mets defeated the Milwaukee Brewers in game 3 of the wild-card series on Thursday to advance to their first National League Division Series since 2015.
Heading into the 9th inning, the Mets trailed the Brewers by a score of 2-0, and their season appeared to be just about over.
Brewers pitching was lights out for most of the game on Thursday until a Mets superstar broke through in the 9th to break up the shutout.
According to MLB Insider Ken Rosenthal, Mets first basemen Pete Alonso had the biggest moment of his career on Thursday.

Alonso came up in the 9th with teammates Francisco Lindor and Brandon Nimmo on base and an opportunity to bat as the go-ahead run.
After beginning his 2024 postseason with only 1 hit in 8 at-bats, Alonso came through with the biggest home run of his career.
Alonso took Brewers closer Devin Williams deep for a 3-run shot to put the Mets on top by a score of 3-2.
That home run ended up being the winning run, and the Mets took the series over the Brewers 2-1 to advance to the NLDS.
Rosenthal explains that Alonso has been having a somewhat down year this year for the Mets, and he has been taking some heat from fans and on social media.
It is safe to say that Alonso won the fans back with his home run on Thursday, and Rosenthal describes this as his biggest moment as a Met.
The Mets are set to begin the NLDS on Saturday where they will take on the Philadelphia Phillies in hopes of starting the series out strong.
