The New York Mets lost a heartbreaker in game 2 of the National League Division Series on Sunday against the Philadelphia Phillies.
After being down 2 runs headed into the top of the 9th, Mark Vientos blasted a 2-run home run to tie the game back up.
This tie game didn’t last long however as Nick Castellanos hit a walkoff single in the bottom of the 9th as the Phillies tied up the series before heading to New York for game 3.
According to SNY on ‘X,’ Mets manager Carlos Mendoza reveals what he expects from his team in game 3 after the tough game 2 loss.
Carlos Mendoza was asked how he expects the team to come out on Tuesday after a tough loss tonight:

The Mets have made a trend of coming back late in baseball games to win as of late.
They tried to accomplish the same thing on Sunday with the big game-tying home run in the 9th, but the magic subsided thanks to the likes of Castellanos.
Game 3 will move back to New York, and Mendoza says that it has been a while since they played at home, and they are excited to get back to their home fan base.
The Mets are in their first postseason since 2022 where they lost in the National League Wild-Card series to the San Diego Padres.
Tuesday’s game 3 will provide a pitching matchup between Sean Manaea for the Mets and Aaron Nola for the Phillies.
It will be crucial for the Mets to win at least 1 of the 2 games at home to try and force a win or go home game 5 back in Philadelphia.
