The New York Mets are currently in the midst of a battle to make the 2024 postseason.
Currently, the Mets hold the last wild-card spot in the National League where they lead the Atlanta Braves by 1.5 games.
The loss of star player Francisco Lindor in the leadoff spot has caused the Mets to need other players to step up during this crucial stretch of baseball.
According to ESPN’s Buster Olney, Elias Sports Bureau on ‘X,’ reports that Jose Iglesias is batting a Major League Baseball best .414 in his last 15 games.
From @EliasSports: Jose Iglesias is batting .414 (24 for 58) over his last 15 games, the highest in the majors over that span (since Sept. 6).

Iglesias has taken over the leadoff spot in the Mets’ order for the injured Lindor.
While Lindor’s shoes are not easy to fill, Iglesias has done an exceptional job thus far as he’s batting .414 since September 6th.
On the season, Iglesias is batting .335 with 4 home runs, 25 runs batted in, and a .838 on-base plus slugging percentage in 78 games.
Iglesias is a veteran in the league as he came into the league in 2011 with the Boston Red Sox.
The Mets hold a record of 86 wins and 69 losses and will need Iglesias to continue his hot streak down the stretch as they try to hold on to the last wild-card spot.
With hopes that Lindor can return this upcoming week, Iglesias is back in the leadoff spot Sunday where the Mets will take on the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday Night Baseball.
The Braves were able to beat the Miami Marlins on Sunday, and the Mets will look to match their win with one of their own.
