The only thing the New York Yankees have left to play for with two games left in the season is the No. 1 seed in the American League, which they can wrap up by winning one more game to lock the Cleveland Guardians into second place.
One of the reasons why the team is in the position it’s in is because of the trade deadline acquisition of third baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr., who has lit a fire under the team and added depth to a lineup that sorely needed it.
When speaking with the media following Friday night’s 4-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates, Chisholm sent the league a message saying “We’re not stopping ’til we get that ring.”

The Yankees haven’t appeared in the World Series since winning it all in 2009 but will have one of, if not their best chance this year given the thump at the heart of this lineup and the talent atop the starting rotation.
Chisholm is having a career year with 23 home runs, 71 RBIs, 40 steals, 20 doubles, and a .254 average, all of which are the best marks of his young career.
It will be the third time in Chisholm’s career he has made the postseason after his Miami Marlins made the Wild Card round twice during his tenure, though he went just 1-for-11 at the dish during those previous appearances.
If the Yankees are able to hold on to the top seed, they will see the winner of the 4-5 matchup in the Wild Card round, which is currently projected to be the Baltimore Orioles or the Detroit Tigers.
