Aside from the annual excitement of the in-season trade deadline, the off-season free-agent signings are the next best thing.
Both of these events cause Major League Baseball fans to anxiously wait and see if any big-name players will be joining their team.
A couple of the big deals that happened before the 2024 trade deadline include the Los Angeles Dodgers acquiring Jack Flaherty from the Detroit Tigers and the Houston Astros acquiring Yusei Kikuchi from the Toronto Blue Jays.
According to MLB Insider Jon Heyman, the free agent market this offseason is pretty stacked.

After the excitement and anxiety of the 2024 postseason and World Series conclude, all eyes will be on the free-agent market.
Heyman lists some of the big names that could change teams.
The list includes star players such as Juan Soto, Corbin Burnes, Willy Adames, Pete Alonso, Max Fried, Alex Bregman, Blake Snell, and Anthony Santander.
The main man on the list, Soto, just signed with the New York Yankees this past offseason for a 1-year deal worth 31 million dollars.
Soto has had an incredible year with the Yankees, and one could assume they would like to resign him following this season.
On the year, Soto is batting .286 with 40 home runs, 103 runs batted in, and a .993 on-base plus slugging percentage.
It will be interesting to see if other big-money teams such as the Dodgers or the Philadelphia Phillies get involved in talks with Soto this offseason.
At the very least, this list will give fans something to look forward to after the World Series concludes.
