The Boston Red Sox missed the postseason for the third straight season after finishing with a record of 81-81 and coming in third place in the American League East.
After winning the World Series in 2018, the Red Sox have only made the playoffs one time, and that came in 2021 when they lost in the American League Championship Series.
It appears like the Red Sox have had enough of losing as they went into the offseason and added some key players and big-time talent to their roster.
The Red Sox traded for ace starting pitcher Garrett Crochet from the Chicago White Sox, signed starting pitcher Walker Buehler from the Los Angeles Dodgers, and now signed third baseman Alex Bregman from the Houston Astros.
Former Red Sox player Jonathan Papelbon revealed what Bregman will bring to this Red Sox team.
“This a sign where you sign a true leader and a true leader in that clubhouse,” Papelbon said via Foul Territory on ‘X.’

Bregman was the top remaining free agent on the market, and there were plenty of rumors swirling about what team he would end up signing with for the 2025 season.
The Red Sox were able to get the job done and bring Bregman in, and Papelbon believes that he will bring instant leadership to this Red Sox team.
Bregman came into the league in 2016 with the Astros, where he played all nine seasons of his MLB career thus far.
In 2024, Bregman played in 145 games, where he batted .260 with 26 home runs, 75 RBIs, and a .768 OPS.
Bregman could take this Red Sox team to the next level with his leadership and abilities on the field.
