Fernando Tatis Jr. is the hottest hitter in baseball this postseason and has four homers and a 1.970 OPS through five games after Tuesday night’s 6-5 Game 3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers to take a 2-1 lead in the NLDS.
The star right fielder was in the news for reasons other than the two homers he hit during the team’s Game 2 win, as he went back and forth taunting the fans and was lambasted in the media by Ken Rosenthal, who called him a “smiling dancing, peacock” in an article released on Tuesday.
Tatis caught up with Joe Davis and John Smoltz after the Padres took the win, and said “We still have a lot of work to do, but one step at a time.”

Tatis also said it was important for the team to come out of the gate with their foot on the pedal and to stay aggressive, and it did exactly that by piling up six runs in the second inning, which held up throughout the game thanks to the team’s stellar bullpen.
The performance came in front of a record-breaking crowd at Petco Park that set the bar high for Game 4’s crowd where the Padres will turn to Dylan Cease on the hill to lead them past the Dodgers into the NLCS.
This was arguably the league’s best team throughout the second half of the regular season, and now with its best players firing on all cylinders and Tatis being a nightly highlight reel, this team has all the makings of a potential champion.
