The San Diego Padres are up 2-1 in the NLDS after a thrilling 6-5 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 3 on Tuesday night, and the team will send Dylan Cease to the mound for Game 4 to try to wrap things up and eliminate their NL West rivals for the second time in three years.
Padres fans are clearly hungry for the franchise’s first World Series win, as was evidenced by the raucous record-breaking crowd in attendance for Game 3.
Bleacher Report shared on X that the Padres broke Petco Park’s attendance record on Tuesday night with 47,744 fans in attendance to witness the victory.

You could hear every one of them as Fernando Tatis Jr. launched his fourth home run of the postseason to cap off a six-run second inning.
Tatis was coming off a two-homer game in Game 2 that saw him repeatedly mix it up with the fans at Dodger Stadium, not to mention a scathing article written by insider Ken Rosenthal that labeled him a “smiling, dancing peacock,” so it must have felt great to tee off once again but with a record-breaking home crowd behind him.
Tatis is 10-for-18 so far in the playoffs with a ridiculous 1.970 OPS and has his Padres looking like they can beat just about anybody these days.
We’ll see if San Diego can break this attendance record once again in Game 4 when the Padres aim to finish off the series, as Cease will be looking to rebound from a rocky Game 1 start where he gave up five runs in 3.1 innings.
