The Detroit Tigers appear to have become the Cinderella story of the 2024 Major League Baseball season.
On August 11th, the Tigers were all but out of playoff contention with their 0.2 percent chance of making the postseason.
They ended up trading starting pitcher Jack Flaherty to the Los Angeles Dodgers and there were talks of trading American League Cy Young candidate Tarik Skubal as well.
After handing on to Skubal at the trade deadline, the Tigers have made an incredible run coming into the last week of the regular season.
According to MLB on ‘X,’ The Tigers have improved their playoff odds by over 70% in the span of just 43 days.

With current odds to make the postseason at 71.1 percent, the Tigers are on the verge of making their first playoff appearance since 2014.
The turnaround by the Tigers this season is nothing short of incredible as they were having another miserable season through August.
After this amazing run, their record stands at 82 wins and 74 losses which clinches their first winning season since 2016.
The Tigers are currently tied with the Kansas City Royals for the 2nd wild-card spot in the American League.
Another American League Central team, the Minnesota Twins, are only 1 game back of both the Tigers and Royals.
The Twins do hold the tiebreaker over the Tigers, so this last week of the regular season is crucial.
On the plus side, the Tigers end their season with a 3-game series against the worst team in the league the Chicago White Sox.
The Tigers will look to stay hot Tuesday when they take on the Tampa Bay Rays.
