The 2025 Major League Baseball season is on its way as spring training has begun, and MLB players are getting things going.
After the 2024 World Series contained two of the most popular teams in baseball, the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers, spring training marks a new beginning for every team that didn’t make it.
Players are typically filled with high spirits at the beginning of each season, and they are itching to get back on the field and compete for a shot at a World Series title.
Former MLB manager Buck Showalter recently revealed his favorite motivational quote that he shared with his players.
“I had one thing, I painted over all of them, it said, ‘Play better. Just play better,'” Showalter said, via Foul Territory.

Showalter began his managerial career in 1992 with the Yankees and last managed in 2023 with the New York Mets.
Along with the New York teams, Showalter also managed the Arizona Diamondbacks, Texas Rangers and Baltimore Orioles.
Although Showalter managed in the big leagues for many seasons, he never appeared in a World Series.
Coincidentally, the Yankees and the Diamondbacks won the World Series the season after Showalter left each team.
Showalter’s motivational quote appears to be straight to the point, which was the way he managed all of his teams.
It appears that Showalter just wanted his players and teams to play better and be better, no matter what it took.
