The Philadelphia Phillies hope for a 3rd World Series title in franchise history came to an end on Wednesday as they lost to the New York Mets 4-1 to lose the series 3-1.
After appearing to be heavy favorites to win the National League Division Series and at the top of the power rankings heading into the postseason, the Phillies fell short in their first series of the playoffs.
The Phillies scored 2 or fewer runs in all 3 of their losses to the Mets in the Divisional Series, and Phillies star Bryce Harper explains his thoughts on the series loss.
“That’s a really good team over there, they played well this series. They pitched well, hit the crap out of the baseball, timely hitting, and everything you want to do as a playoff team. The Mets had a great series,” Harper said.

Harper was one of the few Phillies to have a decent series at the plate against the Mets.
He had 4 hits in 12 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 doubles, 3 runs batted in, 3 runs scored, 5 walks, and 5 strikeouts.
The Phillies were coming off of 2 long postseason runs the last 2 seasons where they lost the World Series in 2022 and lost the National League Championship Series in 2023.
Many fans thought this could be the Phillies year to break through and get that elusive World Series title.
Unfortunately for them, they ran into this scorching hot Mets team and will leave the postseason with a lot of potential left on the table.
The Phillies will look to regroup and forget this disappointing showing in 2024 as they prepare for the 2025 season.
