The San Diego Padres made the postseason for the first time since 2022 after finishing with a record of 93-69 and coming in second place in the National League West.
Although the Padres started the postseason scorching hot at the plate, they ended up losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Division Series.
The Padres have had a relatively quiet offseason as their notable acquisitions include pitcher Nick Pivetta, first baseman Connor Joe, and outfielder Jason Heyward.
Although the Padres haven’t made any huge moves, there have been rumors about the team trading a couple of their best pitchers.
MLB Analyst Ryan Spilborghs warned the Padres about trading these two players.
“There is no way I would want to trade Dylan Cease or Michael King,” Spilborghs said via MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM.

The Padres appear to have a solid team on paper, and Spilborghs believes they can at least make it back to where they were in 2024.
Cease came into the league in 2019 with the Chicago White Sox, where he played five seasons before going to the Padres in 2024.
In 2024, Cease started 33 games where he held a record of 14-11 with a 3.47 ERA and 224 strikeouts in 189.1 innings pitched.
King came into the league in 2019 with the New York Yankees where he played five seasons before going to the Padres in 2024.
In 2024, King appeared in 31 games, that included 30 starts, where he held a record of 13-9 with a 2.95 ERA and 201 strikeouts in 173.2 innings pitched.
Both of these pitchers had great 2024 seasons, and Spilborghs thinks the team should keep both of them for the 2025 season.
