The New York Yankees are preparing to defend their American League East title from 2024 as the 2025 season gets started.
After appearing in their first World Series since 2009, the Yankees will likely focus on finishing the job in 2025.
The Yankees lost one of their key players this offseason as superstar outfielder Juan Soto signed with the New York Mets via free agency on a whopping 15-year deal worth $765 million.
Although the Yankees lost Soto, they added some key players this offseason, including relief pitcher Devin Williams, outfielder Cody Bellinger, and starting pitcher Max Fried.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone revealed his impressions of Fried as he joined the Yankees organization.
“I feel like he seems happy and comfortable, and certainly the talent certainly shows,” Boone said via YES Network on ‘X.’

Fried came into the league in 2017 with the Atlanta Braves, where he played all eight seasons of his Major League Baseball career thus far.
In 2024, Fried started 29 games where he held a record of 11-10 with a 3.25 ERA and 166 strikeouts in 174.1 innings pitched.
The two-time all-star will be a solid piece to the Yankees starting rotation in 2025 if can stay healthy.
While the Yankees reside in likely one of the toughest divisions in baseball, they will attempt to win back-to-back division titles for the first time since the 2011-2012 seasons.
After losing the World Series in 2024, the Yankees will look to get back there this season and take their revenge to win their 28th World Series title in franchise history.
It will be interesting to see how the Yankees perform offensively without Soto in the lineup.
