The first game of the 2024 Major League Baseball postseason will take place on Tuesday between the Houston Astros and Detroit Tigers.
The Astros are the American League West winners with a record of 88 wins and 73 losses while the Tigers are the 3rd American League wild-card team with a record of 86 wins and 76 losses.
Both of these teams had a slow start to the regular season but figured it out towards the end of the year.
Although they had similar regular seasons, one thing is drastically different between these 2 teams.
According to MLB on ‘X,’ a wild stat shows the difference in postseason experience between the Tigers and Astros.
This stat is crazy 🤯

The Tigers are the youngest team in baseball with their oldest player being Matt Vierling who is 28 years old.
As you would expect with having the youngest team in baseball, the Tigers do not have much postseason experience on their roster.
On the opposite end of this spectrum is the Astros who have made 7 consecutive American League Championship Series and have plenty of postseason experience.
Nobody would have guessed that the difference in postseason games by players on these team’s rosters would be so drastic, however.
The Astros have 581 games of postseason experience under their belt while the Tigers only have 12, and they were all by Vierling.
Vierling has played 12 postseason games, but they all occurred with his former club the Philadelphia Phillies.
This is the Tigers first postseason appearance since 2014, and they will look to gain plenty of experience as they try to make a run to the World Series.
