Game 2 of the American League Division Series will get underway on Monday when the Detroit Tigers visit the Cleveland Guardians.
The Guardians walked away with a game 1 win by a score of 7-0, which was highlighted by a 5-run first inning.
For game 2, the Tigers will look to their ace Tarik Skubal on the mound to try and even up the series before heading back to Detroit for game 3.
The Guardians will put Matthew Boyd on the mound for game 2, and ironically, Boyd was teammates with Skubal back in 2023 on the Tigers.
According to MLB on ‘X,’ Skubal reveals his thoughts on facing former teammate Boyd on Monday.
Tarik Skubal considers former teammate Matthew Boyd a friend and mentor.

Boyd pitched for the Tigers in 2023 where he started 15 games and had a record of 5 wins and 5 losses with a 5.45 earned run average and 73 strikeouts in 71.0 innings pitched.
Skubal had an amazing season for the Tigers in 2024 and appears to be the front-runner to win the Cy Young Award.
His stats included a record of 18 wins and 4 losses with a 2.39 earned run average and 228 strikeouts in 192.0 innings pitched.
Skubal weighed in on what he thinks about facing Boyd in game 2.
He explains that Boyd and his family are special people to him, and he means a lot to Skubal.
Ultimately, Skubal says that the matchup will be fun, and it has the chance to be a low scoring pitcher’s duel with how good each player has pitched as of late.
Game 2 is extremely important for the Tigers as they will try to avoid going down 2-0 in the series before heading back home for game 3 on Wednesday.
