The 2024 Major League Baseball postseason gets underway on Tuesday as the regular season concluded on Monday.
With the American League and National teams set, the postseason wild-card round will consist of 4 games on Tuesday.
Baseball is anybody’s game every year, but 2024 seems to be even more of a toss-up than normal.
The best teams in baseball would typically be in order of best record, but that is not the case when it comes to the power rankings.
According to MLB on ‘X,’ the postseason power rankings were released before the first pitch on Tuesday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers had the best record in Major League Baseball with 98 wins and 64 losses, which was good enough for a first-round bye to the National League Division Series.
Like the Dodgers, the New York Yankees had the best record in the American League with 94 wins and 68 losses, which gave them a bye to the American League Division Series.
Although both of these teams received the bye for their respective leagues, the Philadelphia Phillies were ranked number 1 in the power rankings.
The Phillies ended with a record of 95 wins and 67 losses, but their combination of starting pitching and home run power has them ranked ahead of the Yankees and Dodgers.
Aaron Nola and Zach Wheeler provide a perfect 1,2 punch for starting pitching while Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper, and company hit plenty of home runs.
Another highlight of the list is the Detroit Tigers who are ranked 11 but finished the regular season as the hottest team in baseball.
Regardless of where the teams are ranked, this postseason appears like it is anybody’s game.
