This MLB season has been unique in the sense that so many teams appear to be on a similar level, as the 2024 campaign has displayed a surprising amount of parity that has made the postseason a complete toss-up due to the lack of a truly dominant team.
It’s anybody’s guess who the best team in baseball is at the moment since no team will win 100 games this season, but one MLB insider recently shared his take on which team he believes is currently the best in baseball.
Respected insider Jeff Passan appeared on The Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday and said “I think the best team in baseball is the Philadelphia Phillies…You look at that roster, and they have got stars.”

The Phillies have already clinched the NL East and are close to locking up a first-round bye as well even though they have been struggling a bit in recent weeks.
They are fourth in baseball with a +118 run differential and most importantly, the Phils will be heading into the postseason at full strength with all of their aforementioned stars back and ready to roll for October.
The Phillies are built for October given the thump and the depth in their lineup coupled with the prowess at the top of their rotation with Zack Wheeler, Aaron Nola, Christopher Sanchez, and Ranger Suarez, all of whom had great years.
One issue the Phillies need to figure out in October is their issues on the road.
Despite having an MLB-best 93 wins, Philly is just 40-38 away from home and will need to conquer that demon if they are to prove Passan right.
