The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 4-1 on Wednesday to advance to their first National League Championship Series since 2015.
For most of the game, the Mets bats were silent, until the 6th inning came around and the Mets best player broke through for the biggest home run of the season.
The Mets were trailing 1-0 in the 6th when Francisco Lindor cleared the bases with a grand slam home run to take a 4-1 lead, which ended up being the final score.
Mets President David Stearns revealed what he thought of Lindor’s series-clinching home run.
“I don’t know that there’s another player in baseball you want at the plate right now in that situation,” Stearns said.
Francisco Lindor reacted to his grand slam like he expected to deliver. Everyone else around him certainly did. @DeeshaThosar chronicles the latest chapter in the Mets' charmed run to the NLCS.

In the National League Division Series, Lindor had 5 hits in 18 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 doubles, 5 runs batted in, 4 runs scored, and a .906 on-base plus slugging percentage.
Stearns along with all of Mets fans appear to have all the belief in the world in Lindor as Most Valuable Player chants rang throughout the stadium when he came to the plate.
The Detroit Tigers have taken on the role of the 2024 Cinderella team, but the Mets are a close second as they clinched a postseason berth on the last day of the regular season.
Lindor and Pete Alonso have both came up clutch this postseason for the Mets, and they will look to continue their big postseasons in the NLCS.
The Mets will await the winner between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres in their game 5 on Friday.
