The New York Mets have been hot lately, going 7-3 in their last 10 games.
This hot stretch has them alone in the second wild-card spot in the National League with an overall record of 87 wins and 69 losses.
Mets fans are excited to see their team in the postseason if they can hang on to their spot.
With only 1 playoff appearance in the last 7 seasons, Mets fans are chomping at the bit to see their team not only make the postseason but make a long run.
According to Jayson Stark on ‘X,’ Mets General Manager David Stearns said, “This could be the year.”

With only 2 championships under their belt in franchise history, the Mets believing it might be their year is understandable.
Teams who don’t regularly win championships or appear in the postseason get excited to see their team succeeding and anything can happen in October.
A deeper dive into the Mets’ roster construction shows the argument for this possibly being the year that they can make a long postseason run.
Home runs and starting pitching seem to be the common denominators in successful playoff teams.
The Mets have 2 players with 30+ home runs in Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor, along with 2 other players in the 20’s for home runs.
Sean Manea and Jose Quintana have been solid in the starting rotation with Quintana only allowing 1 earned run in his last 5 starts.
If the Mets can put all of this together come October, they may be 2024’s team to make a Cinderella run to the World Series similar to the 2023 Arizona Diamondbacks.
