MLB players have devoted most of their lives to the game they love, and it is never easy to say goodbye.
Many players have a hard time when it comes to leaving the game that they have played for so many years.
Baseball received some tough news on Sunday when a well-known player announced that he is calling it a career.
According to Matt Adams himself on ‘X,’ he will be retiring from the game this season.

Adams is most well-known for his time playing with the St. Louis Cardinals where he spent the first 5 seasons of his 15-season career.
He came into the league in 2012 with the Cardinals and made the playoffs each of his first 4 seasons with the team.
According to his post on ‘X,’ he doesn’t plan to completely leave the game, as he states that he will seek out opportunities in coaching to continue contributing to the sport he loves.
Adams had a career batting average of .258 with 118 home runs, 399 runs batted in, and a .769 on-base plus slugging percentage.
While being most known for being a Cardinal, Adams also played for the Washington Nationals, Atlanta Braves, and the Colorado Rockies.
His last season was with the Rockies in 2021, but Adams will be headed back to Busch Stadium where it all started to retire a Cardinal on Wednesday, September 18th.
It is never easy to say goodbye to a well-known player, but Cardinal fans and all of baseball are wishing Adams the best in his next chapter.
