As the 2024 Major League Baseball season winds down, many teams have already been eliminated from playoff contention.
The wild-card races are coming down to the wire, with both the American and National Leagues having ties for the second and third spots.
On Thursday, another team was eliminated from postseason contention, leaving only 4 teams remaining.
According to FOX Sports: MLB on ‘X,’ the Seattle Mariners have been eliminated from the 2024 playoffs.

With both the Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers winning on Thursday, the Mariners’ postseason hopes are over.
The Mariners have only made the playoffs 1 time in the last 23 years, which included them being swept in the 2022 American League Division Series.
2024 will include a second-place finish in the American League West, and the Mariners have not won the division since 2001.
The Houston Astros being in the division is not ideal, as they have made the last 7 American League Championship Series.
Along with the Astros, the reigning World Series Champion Texas Rangers are also in the same division.
Since 1977, the Mariners have only made 5 playoff appearances and have 0 Pennants or World Series Championships.
It is another disappointing season for the Mariners who did lead the division by a hefty margin at one point in the 2024 season.
They will look to revamp their roster for the 2025 season in an attempt to give the Astros a run for their money in the American League West.
Friday will begin the final series of the season for the Mariners where they take on the Oakland Athletics.
