The Oakland Athletics’ fans have not had much to cheer about lately with their team.
The Athletics have run into their third straight losing season in 2024 with a record of 64-83 through 147 games this season.
While multiple losing seasons in a row can rattle a fan base, the Athletics do have a bright spot to point out in Lawrence Butler.
Stathead reports Butler as the first Athletics player to record a 20+ game hit streak since Eric Byrnes in 2003.

Butler joins some household names in Athletics’ history to record 20+ game hit streaks including Jason Giambi and Miguel Tejada.
Butler extended his hit streak on September 12th to 21 games when he went 1 for 4 in a loss to the Houston Astros.
The longest hitting streak in Athletics’ history is 25 games back in 1997 by Giambi.
Butler will look to keep the streak going on Friday against the White Sox in Chicago.
Butler’s stat line this season includes a .269 batting average and .840 OPS with 21 home runs, 54 runs batted in, and 14 stolen bases.
The losing seasons for the Athletics are always a tough pill to swallow, but they have hope for the future with Butler who came into the league in 2023.
The Athletics will hope to finish the season off strong and continue building for the future to get back to their winning ways.
