The Los Angeles Angels are in the midst of a disappointing 2024 season where they sit in last place in the American League West.
With a record of 60 wins and 88 losses, the Angels are officially eliminated from playoff contention this season.
A rebuild is the current situation for the Angels, and they received even more bad news recently regarding one of their promising young pitchers.
According to Angels beat writer Rhett Bollinger, 28-year-old pitcher Jose Marte’s season officially ends as he underwent successful right shoulder surgery on September 14th.

Marte came into the league in 2021 with the Angels where he only appeared in 4 games and held a 9.00 earned run average in 4.0 innings pitched.
2024 has been Marte’s best season to date as he appeared in 14 games and holds a career-best 2.33 earned run average in 19.1 innings pitched.
Marte’s season was looking promising until he was put on the injured list on August 10th due to a viral infection.
He was then transferred to the 60-day injured list on August 30th, which was initially due to the viral infection.
It has now been confirmed that Marte underwent shoulder surgery and is expected to be ready for spring training next season.
Angel fans have had a rough go as they have not made the playoffs since 2014 when they were swept in the American League Division Series.
Their injury-riddled star player Mike Trout and the loss of Shohei Ohtani has left a lot to be desired in Los Angeles.
The Angels will look to continue their rebuild and try to get back into the playoff picture next season.
