The Chicago Cubs missed the postseason for a fourth straight season in 2024 after finishing with a record of 83-79 and in second place in the National League Central.
Although the Cubs have a World Series title that came back in 2016, the team has struggled over the past few seasons.
This offseason, the Cubs made multiple moves as they try to get back to a competitive level in 2025.
One of the biggest trades of the entire offseason was the Cubs acquiring outfielder Kyle Tucker from the Houston Astros, and the team made smaller moves to go along with it.
The newest member of the Cubs is Justin Turner, who signed a one-year deal.
“Turner gets $6M plus $2.5M in incentives, not bad for 40,” Jon Heyman wrote on X.

Turner debuted in 2009 with the Baltimore Orioles and has played for six teams over his 16-year MLB career.
In 2024, with the Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners, Turner played in 139 games and batted .259 with 11 home runs, 55 RBIs and a .737 OPS.
Turner is 40 years old, but the Cubs will pay him up to $8.5 million, which, as Heyman points out, is not bad for his age.
The Cubs will hope to get some production out of the veteran as they try to win their first NL Central title since 2020.
