A full Major League Baseball regular season consists of 162 games.
The extensive number of games causes most teams to go through peaks and valleys throughout the season.
Every season, an under-the-radar team seems to sneak into the playoffs riding a hot streak at the right time of the year.
According to MLB insider Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Detroit Tigers have been the hottest team in baseball as of late.

Holding a record of 80 wins and 73 losses, the Tigers are tied for the last wild-card spot in the American League with the Minnesota Twins.
The Tigers have the best record in baseball since August 11th where they have recorded 25 wins and only 10 losses.
After trading starting pitcher Jack Flaherty to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the trade deadline, it seemed as if the Tigers were selling.
There were even talks of them trading star pitcher and American League Cy Young candidate Tarik Skubal at the deadline.
The Tigers are peaking at the right time this season as they will try to make the postseason for the first time since 2014 where they were swept by the Baltimore Orioles in the American League Division Series.
With one of the youngest teams in baseball, even if the Tigers fall short of the playoffs in 2024, they undoubtedly have a bright future ahead of them.
The Twins do hold the tiebreaker between the two teams, so they will need to be ahead of them for the third wild card to make the postseason.
The Tigers will look to continue their Cinderella story Friday where they take on the Orioles in Baltimore.
