The New York Mets are making a late-season surge in an attempt to hold onto a wild card spot and make the 2024 postseason.
Currently sitting in the 3rd wild card spot with a 1-game lead over the Atlanta Braves, the Mets look to continue their winning ways in the second half of the season.
With all of the star players in this Mets lineup, one player is standing out from the pack.
According to OptaSTATS, Francisco Lindor made MLB history this week.
Lindor is having an MVP-caliber season for the Mets as he appears to be closing the distance between him and Shohei Ohtani in the MVP race.
He has become the first shortstop in history to have consecutive seasons with at least 30 home runs, 25 stolen bases, and 100 runs scored in 2023 and 2024.

Along with his record-breaking stats, Lindor also possesses a .268 batting average with 85 runs batted in and a .831 on-base plus slugging percentage.
Coming into the league in 2015 with the then Cleveland Indians, Lindor has surpassed 30 home runs in a season 5 times, 25 stolen bases 3 times, and 100 runs 4 times.
Lindor, along with fellow star teammates Pete Alonso and J.D. Martinez, are trying to lead the Mets to their first playoff appearance since 2022 and their first World Series appearance since 2015.
The Mets currently hold a record of 80 wins and 66 losses and hope Lindor can propel them into the postseason riding his scorching hot bat at the plate.
Lindor and the Mets will next be in action on September 13th where they take on Bryce Harper and the Philadelphia Phillies.
