The drama of the 2024 Major League Baseball regular season didn’t conclude as scheduled.
A doubleheader took place on Monday due to inclement weather between the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets.
This was no ordinary doubleheader as these games would decide the final 2 wild-card spots in the National League.
A major development was recognized as the second half of the doubleheader started and Chris Sale was not the starting pitcher for the Braves who needed a win to clinch a postseason berth.
According to FOX Sports: MLB on ‘X,’ Sale is not on the Braves Wild Card roster heading into the postseason.

The Braves were able to beat the Mets in the second game of the doubleheader to clinch a postseason berth.
Sale, who is the Braves ace starting pitcher, was left off the wild card roster after not starting the most important game of the season.
It appears Sale was scratched from the final game of the regular season due to back spasms, but they must be serious enough to be left off the wild card roster completely.
The Braves have dealt with numerous injuries this season including their star player Ronald Acuna going down for the season with an ACL tear.
Along with Acuna, third basemen Austin Riley remains on the injured list with a fractured right hand.
The Braves have overcome multiple different injuries to key players over the regular season, and they will have to continue to do so in the playoffs.
AJ Smith-Shawver will take the mound for the Braves on Tuesday against the San Diego Padres in game 1.
