The New York Yankees lost to the Kansas City Royals on Monday by a score of 4-2 to even up the series in the American League Division Series.
Carlos Rodon of the Yankees pitched against Cole Ragans of the Royals, and Rodon ended up taking the loss.
The Series will now move to Kansas City for game 3 at Kauffman Stadium.
Yankees fans have always been intense, but they might have taken things a little bit too far after the loss on Monday.
According to Yankees beat writer Gary Phillips, Rodon revealed that his wife received multiple messages threatening his family.
As Carlos Rodón struggled Monday, his wife received multiple messages threatening their family.
“People are pretty disgusting at times. But I feel like that doesn’t explain #Yankees fans," Rodón said.
“This is such a common thing…" Ashley Rodón added. https://t.co/RslGW7eNkw

Yankees fans are used to winning as their franchise has 27 World Series titles, which is the most by far in all of baseball.
When things don’t go their way, fans typically express disgust with the team’s performance, but this instance appears to have taken things too far.
Rodon appeared to believe the threats were just a few bad apples, and he doesn’t associate these threats with the entire Yankees fanbase.
In the 4-2 loss to the Royals, Rodon pitched 3.2 innings allowing 7 hits and 4 earned runs with 0 walks and 7 strikeouts.
Rodon’s regular season stats include a record of 16 wins and 9 losses through 32 starts with a 3.96 earned run average and 195 strikeouts in 175.0 innings pitched.
Yankees fans appear to be on edge as they have not won a World Series since 2009, which was also the last time they appeared in the final series.
Rodon will look to make up for the rough outing if he is able to get another start this postseason.
