The last week of the 2024 regular season is upon us, and it has been an emotional one for Oakland Athletics fans.
After 57 seasons of Athletics baseball being played at the Oakland Coliseum, Thursday marked the last game ever to be played there.
The next 3 seasons of Athletics baseball will be played in a minor league ballpark while a new stadium is built for them in Las Vegas.
According to Danny Vietti on ‘X,’ an Athletics fan reveals his honest thoughts about losing the Coliseum.
Just gonna leave this here. My heart goes out to Oakland and its fans today ❤️ pic.twitter.com/lykA7GNyqr

This particular fan describes how Athletics baseball at the Coliseum has been in his family for generations.
His father brought him to the Coliseum, he brought his younger brother to the Coliseum, and he also brought his kids to the Coliseum.
The Coliseum has struggled to bring fans through the doors which appears to have contributed to the decision to move to Las Vegas.
Not only did Oakland lose its baseball team to Las Vegas, but they also lost their football team to Las Vegas as the Raiders made the switch in 2020.
Even though the Athletics underperformed again in 2024 with a record of 69 wins and 90 losses thus far, they won the final game at the Coliseum 3-2 over the Texas Rangers.
The sold-out Coliseum appeared electric the entire game and they were at least able to see their team end their run at the Coliseum with a victory.
After missing the postseason for the 4th straight season, the Athletics will hope that a change of scenery will turn things around in 2025.
