The Chicago White Sox are having a historically bad season in 2024, and it has been hard to find any positives whatsoever.
With a record of 36 wins and 115 losses, the White Sox sit in dead last in Major League Baseball and 51 games back of the American League Central-leading Cleveland Guardians.
It is hard to find a bright spot when looking at a team with 115 losses in counting, but one player has found his bat recently.
According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, Andrew Benintendi is on a career-best hot streak for the White Sox.
Andrew Benintendi is on fire for the White Sox:
He has 11 homers in his last 37 games, including two tonight.
He has 2 more homers in his last 148 plate appearances than he had during a 2-year stretch from April 12 2022-April 26 2024 when he hit only 9 homers in 296 games and…— Bob Nightengale (@BNightengale) September 17, 2024
Benintendi is not having a great season overall this year as he is batting .228 with 19 home runs and 59 runs batted in.
He has however found his swing recently and has homered 11 times in his last 37 games.
With 19 home runs on the season, Benintendi is only 1 away from his career-best 20 home runs that he hit back in 2017 with the Boston Red Sox.
Benintendi has proven to be a streaky home run hitter as his 11 home runs in his last 148 plate appearances are more than he had in a stretch of 1,219 plate appearances from 2022-2024.
The White Sox might be turning things around to end the 2024 season as they have now won 3 games in a row and are finally scoring some runs.
At the very least, the White Sox can look to end the season on a good note and start to rebuild for the 2025 season.
They will be in action again Tuesday against the Los Angeles Angels where they look to extend their winning streak on the road.
