The American League Division Series is in full swing as the New York Yankees defeated the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday by a score of 3-2 to take a 2-1 series lead.
It was a low-scoring affair, which is unlike what most people expect from the Yankees roster who led all of Major League Baseball in home runs during the regular season.
Yankees stars Aaron Judge and Juan Soto often get all the praise for the Yankees offense, but it was Giancarlo Stanton with the big game in game 3 to secure the victory.
Yankees Manager Aaron Boone expressed his amazement about Stanton’s postseason success.
“He’s a killer. It’s remarkable or I just admire how he is able to focus in these big moments and just go to a different place mentally,” Boone said.

The typical Yankees offense revolves around Soto and Judge putting up big games, however, in game 3, the two combined to go 0 for 6 batting.
Stanton was the hero of the game as he had 3 hits in 5 at-bats including a big home run in the 8th inning to break the 2-2 tie, which eventually became the winning run.
In the 2024 postseason thus far through 3 games, Stanton has 4 hits in 13 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 double, 3 runs batted in, and only 2 strikeouts.
Boone expresses how amazed he is that Stanton can focus on these big moments and perform when his team needs him the most.
The Yankees have been able to win 2 games in the series so far without much help from their likely American League Most Valuable Player in Judge.
If Judge can figure things out, this Yankees team could make a far run in the playoffs and possibly take home their 28th World Series title in franchise history.
