The New York Mets are coming off their longest postseason run since losing the World Series in 2015.
After getting into the 2024 playoffs with a wild-card spot, the Mets defeated the Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies before losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
This offseason, the Mets made the biggest splash of any team as they signed free agent Juan Soto to a 15-year deal worth $765 million.
With the amount of money that Soto received, he could buy many things, but one of his first purchases was to get his desired jersey number for the Mets.
“Juan Soto got Brett Baty a car after Baty gave up No. 22 in the offseason,” SNY Mets wrote on X.

Many athletes take their jersey number seriously, but Soto took it to a whole new level as the video shows him revealing the car he bought Baty for giving him No. 22.
Soto has worn the number throughout his MLB career, and he will continue to wear it with the Mets.
After debuting in 2018 with the Washington Nationals, the Mets will be Soto’s fourth team as he enters his eighth MLB season.
In 2024 with the New York Yankees, Soto played in 157 games and batted .288 with 41 home runs, 109 RBIs and a .989 OPS.
The Mets hope that Soto can continue the great production he has had over his career, as they now have him for potentially the next 15 seasons.
