The Boston Red Sox missed the postseason for a third straight season in 2024 after finishing with a record of 81-81 and in third place in the American League East.
Although the Red Sox have struggled since winning the World Series in 2018, the team was aggressive throughout this offseason as they try to get back into the playoffs in 2025.
The Red Sox acquired some key pieces, including starting pitcher Garrett Crochet from the Chicago White Sox, starting pitcher Walker Buehler from the Los Angeles Dodgers, and third baseman Alex Bregman from the Houston Astros.
A video showing Bregman’s first appearance at practice with the Red Sox was revealed on social media.

Bregman played all nine seasons of his MLB career with the Astros.
In 2024, he played in 145 games and batted .260 with 26 home runs, 75 RBIs and a .768 OPS.
Bregman was one of the last big-name free agents to sign this offseason, and the Red Sox got the deal done.
Boston has some tough competition as it resides in the same division as the New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays.
With the additions of Bregman and others, the Red Sox hope to win their first AL East title since last winning the World Series.
