The Los Angeles Angels have not fared well in recent years, as they have not made the postseason since 2014.
Last season, the Angels missed the playoffs for a 10th straight season after finishing with a record of 63-99 and coming in last in the American League West.
This offseason, the Angels have made plenty of moves, including acquiring starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi, outfielder Jorge Soler, catcher Travis d’Arnaud and third baseman Yoan Moncada.
Another move was made by the Angels recently as they signed relief pitcher Kenley Jansen to a one-year contract.
MLB insider Ken Rosenthal revealed the details of Jansen’s deal.
“Source confirms: Free-agent closer Kenley Jansen in agreement with Angels on one-year, $10M contract, pending physical,” Rosenthal wrote on X.

Jansen debuted in 2010 with the Los Angeles Dodgers and played 12 seasons before moving around to a couple of teams.
In 2024 with the Boston Red Sox, Jansen appeared in 54 games and was 4-2 with a 3.29 ERA, 27 saves and 62 strikeouts in 54.2 innings pitched.
The 37-year-old closer is within striking distance of overtaking the No. 3 spot in career saves in Major League Baseball history.
Jansen has saved more than 40 games four times in his career.
The Angels hope to give him plenty of save opportunities in 2025 as they try to get back to a competitive level.
Although Jansen is nearing the end of his career, he appears to still have the stuff to be effective.
